We were well overdue for a break from the cold and gloomy Irish weather, so we decided to sneak away for a short trip to Mallorca. A bit of sunshine, good food, and family time sounded like the perfect fix—and it really was!
We spent our days exploring Alcudia Old Town, chilling on the beaches of Can Picafort, and eating our way through local restaurants and markets. It wasn’t a long trip, but it gave us exactly what we were craving: a little warmth, new scenery, and a lot of great memories.
Here’s a look at where we stayed, what we got up to, and how much we spent along the way.
Flights for 5 pax ✈️
Dublin to Majorca: €294 with 10kgs baggage each
Majorca to Alicante: €90 with 25kgs checkin baggage
Where we stayed 🏡
We stayed in a lovely airbnb in Can Picafort, which turned out to be a great base for the trip. It was cozy, quiet, and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The location was ideal—just a short drive to Alcudia and close to local shops and restaurants.
It felt like a home away from home, and having the extra space was perfect for the five of us. Plus, the flexibility of being able to cook some of our own meals saved us a bit on food too!
Car Rental 🚗
We decided to rent a car to make it easier to explore the island, and it was such a good call! We booked an electric car for €186 and paid a €150 deposit, which we’ll get back after the rental.
What we really liked was that the rental company didn’t require us to return the car fully charged—super handy when you’re rushing to catch a flight or just don’t want to stress about finding a charging station at the last minute.

A Stroll Through Alcudia Old Town 🏰
One of the highlights of the trip was spending time in Alcudia Old Town. The cobbled streets, ancient stone walls, and cute little shops made it such a charming place to wander around. We loved soaking up the history and the slower pace compared to the busier tourist spots.
We treated ourselves to some local food while we were there, and it was worth every cent! The atmosphere was so relaxed—locals chatting at cafés, kids playing in the square, and live music in the background.
It’s the kind of place where you could spend hours just people-watching and exploring the side streets. Definitely a spot we’d recommend if you ever find yourself in Mallorca.
Until Next Time, Mallorca 🌞
Even though we packed a lot into the trip, there just wasn’t enough time to explore everywhere we wanted to. It was still early in the season, so some things—like the water parks—were still closed, and to be honest, the weather was a bit chilly at times (though still way better than back in Ireland!).
Still, it was such a lovely break, and Mallorca definitely left us wanting more. We’re already planning to come back when the weather’s warmer and everything is in full swing. There’s so much more of the island we want to see, and we can’t wait to return!
